Fall Work was created by 98j
Nearly 40 years old & still dishing it out....doing a little fall work with my
98J.....first a trip with the weeders....got to work the other morning before the
light was real good....directions are real simple here; Mt Hood is to the West:

.....and Mt Adams is to the North:

...a little later in the day & the light is better.....pulling a 40 foot JD 800 weeder with a set of flex harrows tied on behind....working in 5th gear at a steady 5 mph...... .....OK, lets see if you have been paying attention...QUIZ TIME!!
which direction are we looking here????

After working the ground over with the weeders, the Cat is switched over to
the drills.....can't beat a Cat for seeding into these conditions...:) .....seen
here hooked up to a squadron hitch of 3 JD Model "B" double disk drills....seeding
Tubbs winter wheat at a rate of 100 lbs per acre....

CAT is looking south and you are taking pic to the north. Now that is an office with a heck of a view. Love it. Thanks for posting, John

The Cat looks sorta familiar. Are you somewhere up around Dufur? Have I seen the rig from the state highway? I've seen your great pictures times before, just never got around to asking. I live just over the ridge from you but never get tired of looking at our mountains, or Cats! Your pics are always welcome. Thanks.

The big one--east fork of the Cascades! I'm in Hood River County. Ten miles east of Dufur, that's not the one I'm thinking I may have seen. I get up that way every now and then, drove around a lot with my dad when he was alive. We probably were near there at some time.

Really neat pics 98J. If you are planting 100 lbs per acre it looks like one would spend as much time filling the drill boxes as one does drilling. ;)

Here in the wastelands of NW KS we usually drill 60 to 70 pounds per acre. A lot of JD hoe drills used here and each 10 ft section holds a little under 30 bu. (1800 lb) Even with that capacity, it seems one is always needing to refill. My rich neighbor got a 40' JD air drill and a 250 bu tank!! He can drill all day with one filling!!

Keep the pictures coming!!

What fantastic pictures, I'm sure lots of enthusiasts from here in UK would pay you to work in such nice surroundings, still, I guess it's not so nice all the time !

Yo Jack! Well, if you saw a D5 like mine along US 197 RECENTLY it probably
was on the H.A. Miller Ranch just before you get to Dufur. Ten years ago, you
would have seen a whole bunch of D5's between The Dalles & Dufur.....they were like a navel....everybody had one. Keep things under control
over there in Hood River. :)
