How's this for a before and after. This picture is the last time I ran the d2 before it went in the shop. The tracks were just about to fall off.

Yes I did, fairly easy to do but labour intensive. My friend with the welding shop made the shells and the welding is pretty straight forward. I think starting about page 15 of my posts you can see some details of how its done. I found all the information on the club website under the war time conservation directives. It says you can do the weld up 4 times before you need to addressee pins and bushings. Thats a lot of plowing

Scott, those idlers you sent - how many links in the rails of the tractor they came from, and I assume it was a U-series? I'm figuring out how many links to add to my NOS rails which are standard at 32 - I have parts for 3 new links per side and will get Milton Cat to press the necessary number on

Cheers,

I don't think I'm going to be able to help you Neil,  the machine they came off of was a j series.  It has 4 roller frames and 31 links.  Seems like I've read the construction idler required one more link so you would be at 33 with the five roller frame. However my 5j parts book calls for 35 links for the 5 roller frame. Hopefully someone will have more specific information

Righto that's good to know. I should be able to do the math to figure out how many more. I only have a four roller frame so I'm thinking it would be a 33 link

Well I think I'm gonna call it, I'm officially done.
I got the last bits painted and installed and everything is looking good. I ran the tractor around the driveway and respooled the winch.
I get one of the more affordable seats off the internet and should work for what I'm doing but definitely not Hahn quality.
