Cleanest stuck bolt I have ever seen!
Makes you wonder why it broke?
Really like your tip on how to make a drill guide!
Thanks!

Worked really well. I might make a few different ones ready for next time. Murphy's law also states that should drastically reduce my chances of actually needing it!

Alrightythen,

Been a bit. had another thread on the track work and how we went about it. www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?32861-He...torch-for-track-work

Cut the old ones out

Clean it up

Heat it up

And slogged the new ones in

First Pin/Bush took ages but the second one we had done in about an hour and a half after we worked out what we are doing. Thankfully that's the last one. My other heating torch and new sledge turned up just as we finished the job which was typical i suppose... about a third or half of a bottle of oxy with the lpg/propane one and a quarter with the acetylene. Paying $160 for an oxy bottle so probably $200 worth of gas including LPG and acetylene. Pretty windy though so that wouldn't have helped, anyway thats what it cost today and the job is done. Plus a few cases of beer for the assistants.

Bushes aren't "master" bushes, just the standard ones, That's why they are long and we had to cut them flush. We also ground a bit more of a taper on the end we were driving through and it went smooth as can be expected.

Hydraulic hoses to the tilt cylinder are done and working okay. Not cheap, but a neat job. Pretty happy with it. Fill the tank back up and hydraulics are 100% done

Rollers are in ready to be bolted down (or up?) new bolts on these and a bucket of anti-seize.

few more pics of the blade.

Another support block going on the side here to help block those cutting edges.

Been pushing 48-49c (118-120f) last week and blowing a gale so i'll admit to not doing much. Kinda tricky when you can't pick anything up though. And other members have issues with their tractors freezing. Bizarre world 'ey.

Got another wreck to look at a few kms out of town not sure if it's a G or an H. If it's an H or a really late G then i'll consider picking it up for parts.

Chain back on this week, then grouzers back on and tension the tracks and go for a lap down the road and back. Check all the trans/TC bolts ect and put the floor and seat in.

Early next year we should be out there pushing dirt :cool2:

Replied by edb on topic Looking Good Mate
Hi Misterskill and Team,
thanks for the update, things are sure moving along with the old girl--some spares are always welcome--a nice bonus if the hulk is suitable.

Been a long road for you all with so many areas needing attention, not to mention this hotter than usual weather--I well recall having tools in a bucket of water when working outside during summer here in Melbourne let alone in your area.

Test runs always show you are nearing completion.
Good Luck.

Cheers for Christmas and Wishing you all a Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Still hot as, but been slipping a teaspoon of cement in my morning coffee and getting a bit done.

Track back on and tensioned. Got to hand it to CAT for spare parts. I rang them the morning of Christmas eve for the check vale assembly and grease nipple on the track tensioner and had it here in town Christmas morning. 837kms away.

Got our end bit braces on.

cleaned this all up and cut these out of some 3/4 plate we had left over from the blade.

Bent a few of the track frame covers straight again and got them on.

And threw a bit of paint around this afternoon. Temp thing on the car read 49C when i left so that should bake it in nicely. Looks pretty good from 15m away haha

Plus as a bonus we managed to flag down a low loader the other day that was passing by empty and got the Kato out to where we are going to be working. I'll walk the Cat out next weekend finally!

That’s looking really good. That lowboy is bloody big!
I worked on a station in southwest Queensland when I was 19. Hottest day was 47 in the shade.
One of the best times of my life. I learned a lot

Yeah, i thought i was pretty good until i moved up here and realized i knew nothing at all haha

I don't know much about them. Old mate reckons it will move 107ton so i don't think it knew the Kato, at 30t, was even there. We were looking for one with 4 axels at the back and this one was parked up at the parking bay with 5 and a dolly so he got the job

Nice looking HT Kingswood (maybe) in the background too. I guess the rust doesn't get at them much in that climate?

Cheers,

Depends, a lot of them get/got left out in the paddock and the sandstone gets into them (especially if the windows get smashed) and chews them out. That one is rough as, been up here for years and years. Looks the part and a bit of fun to drive around though.

So we went for a walk this morning and the transmission got warm, almost to the red on the gauge. Engine oil temp stayed right in the middle and TC pressure was right in the middle of the green too. Oil pressure good too.

I noticed a bit of steam and realized we forgot to plug the water pressure gauge sender hole at the top of the radiator. Doh!

We had flushed the trans cooler and oil cooler and got a lot of the crud out of it, I'm wondering (read hoping) if the missing water pressure sender hole is effecting the coolant circulating by not letting the cooling system pressurize or something?

First thing first, fix the hole and take it for another test run.
