Phil, can you clean it with some paint stripper?

Cheers,

Thanks OM
The CCU's in your pic look the same as the one on mine. Is there much difference between the two?

Neil
The tag is corroded and very brittle so I don't think paint stripper will work. I guess it would be worth a try. though.

The biggest difference with the 54C CCU is the way it mounts to the frame. The mounting flanges are parallel to the tractor main frame where the 27E flanges (ears) are perpendicular to the frame.

Hello OM
On second inspection the rear of the CCU looks nothing like the one in your pic.

Phil, that looks like your hydraulic unit. The CCU is the winch setup on the rear of the tractor.

The CCU is the winch setup on the rear of the tractor.

This tractor has a big hyster winch on the back. No room for a rear CCU.

Looking at the serial tag I can make out the first two numbers and they appear to be 20.
This auction on Grays shows a similar unit with a serial of 20D71. Also says it is a #30. I assume it is an foreign (possibly UK) equivalent like the hydraulic unit. With OM's description of the "ears" that would make this unit a 54C equivalent.

Phil, that is a HCU. A CCU is a cable control unit. TOTALLY different animal. OM is talking about a CCU.

No those last pics show the rear side of the CCU. It is NOT a hydraulic unit. The tractor in the first post is hydraulic but now we are talking about another tractor that has no hydraulics only a FRONT mounted CCU.

Hello All
Getting back to the hydraulics on the D8 I was thinking about the fact that they are off an early D8H. This 15A has cracked both chassis rails near the final drive housings. The left side has been repaired but the right side is still broken.
My thoughts are if the hydrualics are off a D8H then maybe the hydraulic pressure is too high for the 15A., Does anyone know what the pressure would be set to on the 15A in comparison to the D8H?

Regards

Phil
