Total Restoration of a 15 Motor Patrol

Here we are removing the engine. It had been left uncovered for atleast 40yrs from the previous owner. Not worth fixing this one. May have some internals worth using. I have another engine waiting to be torn down and rebuilt.
Glad the radiator support isn't trashed.

Had to cut the clutch shaft to speed removal because everything is so rusted.
Also the trunnion shaft was frozen so we loosened the pinch bolts to be able to raise the engine up enough to remove the leaf spring.

Nice thick vintage oil

Here we are getting an inspection of the input bearings from the little guy.

Here we are removing the trunnion for the grader attachment. This thing is seized very badly and,
the tracks have worn the top of the castings and wiped out the bolts.

Now for the track removal. First get these clip on grousers off.

Made up a nice little track press with a 30Ton ram

Wondered why it wasn't working. I bored too small a hole in my plate to clear the master pin.

We could use a better set of track chains. These are pretty well worn.

Now for the track frames. These weren't too easy to do either, I'll show why as I get there.

These trunnion castings are froze badly due to the mounting brackets for the grader attachment.
All of this stuff is frozen so badly because there was no movement in the track frames.
The main shaft can't be pulled from the final drives because there's a concave area on the bottom of the transmission case
without enough room to pull it away to clear the 1" mounting studs.
So we had to take the four 1" studs out.

To get the studs out we cut one of the nuts and made jamb nuts

Thanks for the positive comments.

Time to tryout the new Milwaukee impact.
This thing seems to have some power.

Now for the sprockets and final drives.

Got a big surprise when the first sprocket came off.
Seems someone put this big spring inside for what reason I don't know.
This thing came flying off without much tonnage on the puller.

It chewed up the bellow seal

We were ready on the other one.
