Yeah, Doing the ram seals on the excavator as well at the moment, so we can lift it out with that. Then my mate is off on holiday for 2 months so it'll be a good time to get the bank account a bit healthier before we get back into it.

Looking forwards to seeing her up and running. Alot of these big old girls parked up now, never to run again so good to see one getting repaired and put to use.

Well, back into it. Main ram seals done on the excavator so back into the old rig

Track split and cylinder out. Clean it up tomorrow, then send the seals off to get replacements.

Also found a picture of it working back in the old days. 1967, she would have been a flash rig back then!

Yeah, we will get there!

Noticed an oil leak from the seal between the tank and the input shaft that comes off the front of the motor. Seal is shot and the shaft & coupling are showing signs of wear.

Rang cat as i figured i may as well change the shafts & coupling out to be told that whole pump is discontinued. The unit is still working however I'd like to be able to service it down the track if required.

Anyone come across this before? is there another later model pump that fits in or is it possible to retro-fit the later D9H style with the hydraulic tank up the top? or am i simply looking for the wrong item?

Pump assembly should be 3J-6737

hydraulic S/N is 91F1292 with control 193

Cheers

Hi, Misterskill.
The D9H system would be easier to retrofit than the D9G system 'cos the D9H system tank fits ahead of the fuel tank instead of being alongside the fuel tank which requires the fuel tank to be offset to the left. The hydraulic pumps are remote from the tank in both systems and there would be extensive re-plumbing required but it would be do-able if you had to.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Had a look at a few examples of both today and you're right about the tank position. Pump is in the same spot on both which is currently just blanked off on mine so that should just be the matter of getting the adaptor plate and it should bolt straight in.

Split the hydraulic tank on mine and it contains a vickers 55v pump. Couldn't find much online but there was a place in the states who claim to work on them so fired them off an email inquiring about parts availability.

Hi, Misterskill.
Just be careful if you plan on using that Vickers pump in an external position that it wasn't designed to be fully surrounded by the hydraulic oil within the tank and will function O.K. out in the open.

Crisis averted. Found a place in usa that can provide one, with a seal kit and bearing.

Got the idlers apart, got the rubber bushes out after a bit of heat and some banging a crashing. Bit worn, so welded that up. New parts ordered. Bushes, top plates and wear plates

Welded a few cracks up, new trunnion ball coming so I'll cut that out this week. New ripper boots and shins

Coming along slowly.
