wow ok!!!! That looks horrible I will look into this hopefully it is just welded and the welder did it right, it may as well be loose and can be adjusted, I wont be using the dozer until these things are fixed and will keep you posted! I will contact the mechanic that sold me the machine, I think he focused on the engine and the hydraulics, the father of this mechanic was the expert at fixing dozers and maybe he didnt notice these two things.

I will look into this as soon as I can drive to the farm hopefully in two days time max! I am so glad I didnt move the dozer too much,

Thanks ctsnowfighter, bluox and clayton and everyone that has taken the time to read thru this thread and post I am learning a lot!

Keep posting your questions, concerns, pictures always help.
Many things will show up as you learn the machine and some of them are probably covered with paint and what-ever was under it.
On the track adjustment, you have the basic information, and one thing you really should do, use a wire brush and clean the threads you can see, apply some penetrating oil, to make it easier. You will want to move the front idler to the rear of the machine, enough that you can take a bar under the track near a top roller, and have some slack there.
Track should not be so tight you cant pick it avove the roller with a bar.

STAY SAFE -- If you don't understand or have doubt, ask, it is easier than getting hurt.

How about a couple of pictures of the front of the recoil springs?
About 6feet and 2 feet away of both sides like the ones in that adjustment pictures?
I looked back through your pictures and except for the bad pin and the section of track that looks like it was parked on the ground for several years it don't look too bad.
I would make a guess it could be around 10%.
The bad pin looks like someone used a piece of too small round stock and wore the link out.
At this point about the only way to fix it would be replace 2 track links and 3 pins.

Hey! hello! not much updates, it took me a while to find a 1-7/8 half inch socket, I drove across the border yesterday with my mom to pickup a bunch of stuff from my mailbox,

I hadnt post anything here because one of my old tundras the transmission is toast, no reverse, it overheated because i dont know how to read the fluid dipstick apparently, transmission ran low on fluid for a while started slipping I thought fluid level was ok so instead of filling with transmission fluid I added half a bottle of lucas no slip transmission additive which looks like molasses tbh so one week later no reverse suddenly and all of the other gears work perfectly fine, no slipping anymore I drove back home and I parked it inside the garage but I cant get out of the garage anymore.

The other tundra (one is 2003 4wd the other is a 2002 2wd) was missing a camshaft sensor and the damn plugin harness broke into pieces when I tried reinstalling everything so I had to splice and solder a new harness, now I have my 2wd working ok. I now miss my 2017 mitsubishi l200 4 cylinder diesel, I sold that truck to my brother in law last year because I wanted to buy a dozer or a miniexcavator but I ended up getting the d4d.

The 4wd tundra I will have to take off the transmission then inspect which plates are soldered together and buy the right pieces for an overhaul, hopefully not too expensive, toyota parts are very expensive! I know some plates are rekt because of the symptoms (no reverse) which is 100% mechanical on this truck and its a common occurance when you run low on fluid and tow because the transmission gets so hot from all the dry friction apparently and I have been towing 5 round haybales every 10 days or so (hopefuilly now with the dozer I will be able to grwo my own sudangrass and forage millet for hay for the winter and canicule).

So tomorrow I will use the big socket and my impact wrench to take apart the bolt and nut that appears to be broken and inspect it. I will take more photos and post some updates tomorow! see you soon!

Please don't fool around with those spring center bolts.
It looks to me someone made those studs to assemble the springs as they didn't have the right tools to compress the springs.
They are longer than the right ones and the right ones are not threaded on both ends.
If you would please take some pictures of the front of both springs.
Thanks

Ok bluox thanks for the heads up, I will take some pictures and videos of the front of both springs tomorrow morning, yes it is very common for farmers here in Mexico to have made bolts and studs etc there are still special workshops that make bolts for machinery because everything is imported from abroads especially in the past, I am hoping the previous owners did an ok job repairing the tracks, what is the worst case scenario?

Thanks

Captain Beans --
DO NOT TAKE CHANCES - Know exactly what to do and follow those instructions to the letter, no shortcuts, farmer fixes, etc.

THOSE RECOIL SPRINGS are just Waiting for an ESCAPE -
Take the advice given here - this is not something that you can feel your way through.
Those springs contain TONS of pressure looking for release.

Many of the problems that have been noted here, are because of improper procedures and "fixes" that are extremely dangerous!

You asked - WORST CASE --YOU CAN BE Permanently Disabled, or DEAD!

Ok, I will not do anything foolish thanks for the advice, I will then proceed to take photos only and of course I wont be using the dozer until I get this fixed maybe I should start looking for a bulldozer mechanic in my area,

thanks again for all the info!
