I have a Lempco Portable Track Press for sale. This track press is powered by a V4 Wisconsin and comes with the Original owner and operator manual for it. I also have all of the tooling for tracks as small as a John Deere M and 420 crawler and all of the tools for CAT D2 up to D9. It also comes with all the tooling for oliver, Allis Chalmers, and International Crawlers. I am asking $2800 for the machine and all of the tooling I have for it. And the manual tell you all of the parts of the tooling that you need for each type of track. If you have any questions email me or call at 218-729-7143.

This is a simalar single ram set up in action other than the jaw action.
Not sure how this guy the guy in the video is keeping from gaulding everything he is working on but seems to be working. Single ram set ups require a lot more work for the operator. and with the tooling for JD M one could do Cat Ten.

I was the one who took that video. Those are my tracks getting the new P&B's. This is an OTC trackmaster 60 press. These tracks are Caterpillar TEN. The pin and bushings are JD MC. This press didn't even get a workout doing these tracks. They go in just fine. Sure they are a bit snug, but other than a bit of popping and hopping they going in just fine without galling or even marking the OD of the bushing. The dies are JD MC, but they had to be shimmed just a bit for the Cat rail. Worked good! I have another video of the second operation of the press work.

OK, this is probably a newbie question but I have no experience pressing pins and bushings - what would cause the concern for galling with that setup? Not enough support for proper alignment when starting the pin? Just curious, always like to learn new things.:typing:

Hey Sas! Galling is basically metal damage from friction. Sometimes metal can transfer from one piece to another and it makes a deep scoring line type groove in the direction of motion. The easiest way to prevent galling would be to apply some lube of some sort. In this video the bushings were packaged and shipped with a light grease/heavy oil. Not quite like kosmoline, but close. The new bushing pressed in much easier than the old came out! No such thing as a newbie question, just an opportunity to learn! I am sure there are others who wondered the exact same thing. Thanks for asking!

Thanks for the reply, I've had galling happen before when pressing two pieces together and not having them absolutely square to start with, that's why I asked. I didn't realize that pins and bushings weren't pressed in dry. Thanks again.:thumb:

Thanks for the nice explanation, Chad. Also for posting that very neat video showing the process.

That Lempco press sure looks cool. It is too bad is it way over in Minnesota. I'd love to have it, just to tow around behind some of our stuff. Let alone how useful it would be for all of our track projects. Lots easier than trying to use the 50 ton arbor press with the track sideways and propped up on barrels. Of course, if it were closer, then I'd have the problem of finding $2,800, too.

Pete.

If you're serious, between all us friends, we can probably get it to Brisbane for a reasonable freight and cleaning reimbursement. If I understand your location, you're not too far from Brisbane. Several people I know have containers going from California to Brisbane every once in a while, and we can handle receiving, cleaning and that sort of thing.

I'll see what I can find out about freight from Duluth to here, and see what the Brisbane friends think about a cost for the ocean part of the journey.

Pete.
