If mrsmackpaul does get this over there, he might have a regular business with you blokes. I continue to be astounded at the cost of things over there. Hopefully, we can get this nice bit of gear over to you guys. Even with the distances you all have to cover, I'll bet you could find ways to get sets of tracks to and from him and get the work done much more reasonably, as long as you all are patient.

I hope things work out for all concerned. No matter what, this bit of gear is too good to go to China.

Pete.

G,Day Mike. That sounds like a good idea .Mrsmackpaul would be welcome to call here on his way south. We could fill him with giggle juice and the next day slap him on the back and say see ya later. He wouldn't know what happened. Good luck with the track press. Regards Andrew Kennedy. P S Thanks for your hospitality Mike. Love the old adds mrsmackpaul

Hi Andrew, Glad to hear you got home safely, it was good to meet you, and yes, it was cheeky hooligans like you I was worried about, getting a bit feely touchy with my old Cats as they passed through the Darling Downs on the back of mrsmackpauls truck, that's if he decides to go for a Sunday drive to Echuca one day, otherwise I might have to try and find a good trucky down your way!:eyebrows:

I reckon if we start at my place with that track press and then start slowly sending it north towards Ayr over the next year, there's probably about 20 blokes who could make use of it for a week each fixing up some worn out chains, so if we each threw in $200 a few lucky members of the ACMOC Club of Australia could own the widow maker track press outright, though usually when I borrow something from my neighbours it is broken and I get to spend a week fixing it first before I can use it!
regards
Mike

Old-iron-habit - You're probably the best alternative to get it over to this side of the country.

I'll be going to Tremonton and can make sure we have room to bring it back here, if you do go. If you don't go to Tremonton worst case, as long as mrsmackpaul is patient, you could bring it out on your next tax circuit to Fremont next April. Maybe you can contact mrsmackpaul or me with your thoughts on cost.

mrsmackpaul, buddy Gary will have a container going to Brisbane later this summer. I suspect that Lance will probably have another coming probably in the fall. As Mike Meyer says, I'll be something could be arranged with Wombat if you'd prefer it go to that part of the country. As long as you're patient, I'm sure we can make this happen. Freight'll cost something, but I can't imagine it being too prohibitive.

The only caveat is, if it needs to sit around our place much, Garlic Mom tends to be pretty heavy on the possession being 9/10ths of the law. She also tends to take a shine to things she finds useful. That track press looks pretty useful to me. You'll have to handle any negotiations with Mom. I know better than to get in the middle of that. The upside for you is she can't start a track press and drive it around. The starting and driving seems to be what leads to the strongest attachments with her.

We'll make it happen.

Pete.

how do you people find out about all these containers going to Australia have been trying to get a quote for at least six months to get a truck bought over here so far no luck at all any pointers would be appreciated

My Brother in Law in Adelaide runs a Shipping Company, they do a lot of work importing new and used vehicles into Oz, and farming and earth moving equipment, he arranged for my mates International KB14 truck to be imported from around New York State into Melbourne about a year ago, it was too big to go into a container. If you want his contact details Paul let me know, he was National President of the Freight Forwarders Assoc for a long time, so knows everyone around Oz in the shipping business.

Wombat is a busy boy too importing Cats into Melbourne, and Lance Jones drags them into Brisbane from time to time, it's just a matter of asking around, a bit like me trying to drag my 2 Cats from your backyard the 2,000 miles to my place, sooner or later you find the right person. Easiest way for you will be to talk to Lance Jones and see if he has room in a container coming out of California, and on your return home from Kerang and Echuca swing by Lance's and grab the track press.

I assume it is OK, the track press, like nothing broken, just needs the battery charged and she is good to go.

Mrsmackpaul - The only way I find out is these funny talking guys keep showing up in my yard, saying I need to go pick up this and that and just park it in the corner of the yard. Later on, stuff starts showing up in the mail that I have to store that. Then, after a while, they tell me to go out to the corner of the yard, drag that stuff onto the concrete, take off all the panels and covers and steam clean the stuff until Garlic Mom says we can eat off it. After that, they tell me to load it all up, haul it down to some junkyard in the corner of Long Beach or San Pedro and leave it there. The nice part is they always send me a nice six pack of stubbies of Fosters for my trouble.

Seriously though, I have had the good fortune to meet and become good friends with several of our more prominent Australian members. Some of them are pretty active in finding rather unusual tractors and nice spare parts and one or the other of them seem to be working on getting a container load together headed your direction pretty regularly. There are some significant costs involved in doing this, and I can't speak for them, but if you have something you need to go in that direction and are patient and willing to share in the costs of arrangement, cleaning duties and all the other stuff that goes along with it, I'm sure that you can find a ride.

I have also gotten to know quite a few guys around this side of the pond and, between all of us, we can usually find a way to make a movement happen like this track press or your truck at a fairly reasonable cost. If you'd like to send me the details on your truck, I suspect we could work out something so you'd have an idea of what it would take in time and money to get it over there. You can contact me by private message here, my email is pbloom (at) ymail (dot) com, or my phone number is (661) 343-3691.

Mike Meyer is a good resource over there, too. We know a lot of the same people and he keeps threatening to turn up for a Garlic Mom breakfast over here, although I'm not sure whether he has the constitution to stand up to the ear bending he might get with it. Wombat at least had the guts to show up for ice cream cake once.

Hi Paul , You hadn't mentioned Your Dilemma about freight to Aust. when We talked Last week . Could have given You the good Oil .
I have an excellent Contact in Bris . that can Arrange small lots to Come out . . But believe Me, you are Better to Work in with someone Bringing Gear out in Many Ways . Give Me a Call when You are ready .

Mike ,I did tell You a Couple weeks ago I don't own a Truck . Sold my Old Cab over Kenny with a 28 ft. tray 10-12 Years ago. Be handy at Times , But it was too expensive to run .had 318 Hp 671screamer in it and would pass anything But a Fuel Bowser !!
David is taking His Truck loaded to QHR at Ayr and return .
Hey ,Doesn't Joe have a Track Press ?? Why not get a Budget rent a truck and throw Your tracks and Bits on and head for Joes , probably pick up another set or 2 on the way . You would need to pick up mrsmackpaul on the way for security reasons as those Northern Banana Benders have a strong Dislike to Mexicans intruding into their territory. Finish your tracks and load the D2 and 15 and head south to the Border. don't forget You have to pay that new Tax [$500 per unit ] for removing Historical items out of Qld . you might get away with the 15 as parts only and then head back to the Cabbage Patch. should do whole job in 9-10 days and You would have the privilege of getting some of the magnificent weather up north at present . Hi Lance, yes, Joe does have a track press, but it seems a little crazy to drag a couple of sets of chains on a 4,000 mile round trip to his place and back, Tilly's looks like the best bet right now but they are still 1,000 miles north.

I was on the property right next door to mrsmackpaul last August visiting his neighbour Ken looking at pumpkins but we didn't get to meet unfortunately, though when he and I spoke on the phone the other day he told me he was from Kerang here in Victoria originally, which is just down the road from me, so I'm sure he will cut me a little slack even though I was made in SA originally.
