If you're serious, between all us friends, we can probably get it to Brisbane for a reasonable freight and cleaning reimbursement. If I understand your location, you're not too far from Brisbane. Several people I know have containers going from California to Brisbane every once in a while, and we can handle receiving, cleaning and that sort of thing.

I'll see what I can find out about freight from Duluth to here, and see what the Brisbane friends think about a cost for the ocean part of the journey.

Pete.

mrsmackaul is nearly 1,000 miles north of Brisbane, he's up near Townsville where our good buddy Mr. Lyoncat lives, and going that last 1,000 miles from Brisbane can cost more than the 7,500 miles from the USA though Lance Jones is sending a empty truck up there soon I believe. I agree it would be a real handy machine to have assuming it all works OK, I have a few tracks here off 22 and 2 Ton that need attention and finding a reasonable priced shop within 8 hours drive is impossible, maybe if it comes via my place first I'll give it a loosen up before sending it the 2,000 miles up to mrsmackpaul.
regards
Mike

you blokes must have a lot more track presses over there than we do here for that type of coin Id look at bringing it out here how do I get it to a port on the west coast ?

Paul

I live 40 miles from Duluth. I would be glad to bring it out to a west coast port if not in a big hurry. We drive out every spring with the truck. If we decide to drive to the national I could get it that far later this summer. I'm sure somebody from the left coast will be driving there. Just do not know if I can get the time off yet to drive to the national event. We also have salties coming into the port in Duluth, MN if you can make some arraignment to get it on a boat there.

Thanks for chiming in old-iron-habit, I was talking to mrsmackpaul on the phone a week or 2 ago and he said he might come for a 2,000 mile drive south in his truck towards me one day in the next 12 months or so, so if the unit could get to Droptubes place at Molalla Oregon I'd assume our favorite Wombat could find room for it in one of his containers being loaded in July or August, that would get it a cheap ride to Melbourne and be within 3 hours of my place.

If mrsmackpaul does come south to my place we were talking about him maybe throwing my D2 5U and a Fifteen wreck on the back of his truck for a bit of ballast because they are sitting only a couple of hours north of him, though I'd be a bit worried as he drives south past some of those hooligans in southern Queensland, one of them might get a hankering to maybe purloin one of my old Cats off the back of mrsmackspaul's truck while he was catching a little shuteye at a Roadhouse, those boys hate seeing old Cats heading south into enemy territory.:eyebrows:

Old-iron-habit - You're probably the best alternative to get it over to this side of the country.

I'll be going to Tremonton and can make sure we have room to bring it back here, if you do go. If you don't go to Tremonton worst case, as long as mrsmackpaul is patient, you could bring it out on your next tax circuit to Fremont next April. Maybe you can contact mrsmackpaul or me with your thoughts on cost.

mrsmackpaul, buddy Gary will have a container going to Brisbane later this summer. I suspect that Lance will probably have another coming probably in the fall. As Mike Meyer says, I'll be something could be arranged with Wombat if you'd prefer it go to that part of the country. As long as you're patient, I'm sure we can make this happen. Freight'll cost something, but I can't imagine it being too prohibitive.

The only caveat is, if it needs to sit around our place much, Garlic Mom tends to be pretty heavy on the possession being 9/10ths of the law. She also tends to take a shine to things she finds useful. That track press looks pretty useful to me. You'll have to handle any negotiations with Mom. I know better than to get in the middle of that. The upside for you is she can't start a track press and drive it around. The starting and driving seems to be what leads to the strongest attachments with her.

We'll make it happen.

Pete.

It's too bad mrsmackpaul is 2,000 miles north of me or I'd look at going partner with him on the press, I got quoted $400 a side to turn pins and bushes by Tilly's a few weeks ago on a 35 link D4 chain which was a lot better than the $1,840 per side my local Cat Dealer quoted me, unfortunately Tilly's are about 1,000 miles north of me.
