I don't see how they can keep the lights on with so few paid members.

Hello Pete,
The lights were indeed dimming, I guess that the old Cat (money) generator needed a thorough overhaul.
This is now taking place thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our treasurer, staff and board of directors.
Having stabilised the finances, we are now focussing our efforts on expanding the club membership and other initiatives to increase income.
The first major activity in this area is this new website. We have had many discussions regarding whether or not we should restrict access to all or parts of the forum (bb) to members. It's a fine balance between giving potential members and Cat enthusiasts access so they can see what is available, (especially the technical help from yourself, Eddie and others as well as the store, publications etc. etc.) versus ensuring that the club generates income from the investment it has made in this facility. Advertising does generate a very small amount of income, well, it did on the old website, not yet implemented here, but is is a tiny fraction of running costs.
If we can turn even a small proportion of the "non" members who use this facility into paid up members, it will help the club enormously.
We welcome all ideas on how the club can increase membership and income.
In the meantime, having just launched the new website, we need to get the bugs out of it, hence this thread.
Best Regards, John

Hi John,
I have one snag for you, When you open the online magazine it opens in another window and the problem is I can not make that window bigger, but i can make the magazine larger in the window, a bit of a pain in the neck.

Hi Daryl,
I'm not sure if it's the same on your computer, but on mine (Windows 10), when I open the magazine, it does indeed open a new window which annoyingly, has the six title blocks imposed over the top (we must get this sorted), however, in the bottom right hand corner, second icon in is a "Full Screen" icon which expands the window to full screen. Either "esc" or "Exit Full Screen" icon (same position as on small screen) takes you back. Please let me know if this works for you as it may be dependent on your operating system.
Best Regards, John

This new site does not function properly on the browser ( Firefox) that I was using, I had to switch to Chrome to sign in, use and view aspects of the new site. I was using a PC with windows 10 when I noticed these problems.

Hello Josh,
Please will you tell us which particular functions you found did not work properly in Firefox.
One added complexity is the many different browsers and types of computer (laptop, tablet, phone etc.) and operating systems (Windows xx, Apple ios. etc.) that users will use to access the website.

By copy, please will anyone logging an issue in this thread please tell us which Browser and operating system you are using (e.g. MS Edge, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Windows 10, Apple etc.)

Jan has just informed me that AdCo will be reviewing this thread and should be taking action to fix the issues reported here.

Best Regards, John

Hi Daryl,
Thank you for clarifying. It looks like this issue is computer specific as I get the same as you when I use my iPad rather than my laptop.
AdCo, please will you look into this one.

Some thoughts of mine as follows;
* Have an envelope in the yellow bar for private messages, if it is open you have no new or unread messages, if closed new messages, rather than having to go into profile and then messages to see if one has any.
* For unread BB posts have the flag coloured highway yellow, for read posts have the flag coloured grey, would bring some colour to the page and would be using our heritage colours.
* To help clarify membership etc on BB use the following terminology;
- ACMOC Member for financial member logged in, able to read and post
- GUEST User for non financial member logged in, able to read and post
- VISITOR not logged in and/or registered, able to read only
The stats at bottom of page to record the three different above status.

I suggest replacing the 6 digit post number, which is not very helpful, with the post number for the thread. Also, I comprehend the post date and time better than the number of days and hours.
