Tried again to reset password on my iphone. No luck. Enter ID and it shows green and says correct.
Enter the magic password sent via email and it says incorrect user name or password.
Once again why such a complicated password that takes about 19 clicks to get entered into iphone? BvpeQ6V1UxAM

Temporary password does not have special character requirement like the regular password? If that is the case why not a temp password like pass1234?? Saves a lot of hassle entering on an iphone or ipad. Advise member to assign new password after using temporary simple one.
From Post 222143: "Quick tip: If you need to reset your password, please note that the site requires the it be a minimum of 8 characters including at least one capital letter, one lower case letter, one number and a special character." Temporary password does not meet the requirement?

Still working on the couch!! Couch problem is minor compared with trying to log in on ACMOC.

Hi Jim,
I'm sorry you are having so many problems.
Bizarrely, I am using the same password that I did on the old site and it doesn't have all the requirements you mention, 7 characters no special ones.
It is usual these days for replacement passwords which are computer generated to have a mix of letters (upper and lower case) as well as symbols and I presume that in this new website the replacement passwords are computer generated.
I do hope that Mary will be able to sort all this out for you.
Best regards, John

Is the private messaging actually working, I'm not having much luck with it at all. I agree with others there should be some kind of alert and a quick way to access messaging.

It is working, just not as easy or good as the old system, I'll send you a quick PM now.

Hi John, thanks for the reply.
From what I see on this board, quite often the members and the Board are not on the same wavelength.
I believe in a website being "user friendly" and this one is quite often user hostile and there is a huge difference. In order to promote this website and for it to be a benefit to the users it must be user friendly.
Simple things like resetting a password should not be a problem. This fiasco lies with the web developer and I do not fault the board but the board has to be the driver to make the board easy to navigate and understand. Case in point. This may seem like a small item but when resetting the password why does the temporary password have to be 12 character long when the instructions only require 8. Can't a computer generate an 8 "number" password? As you pointed out, why does the website instruct us to use upper case, lower case, at least one number plus a special character when some don't have that requirement and use their old password?
I don't mean to sound like a broken record but in my opinion this website update has been an absolute disaster. I have to be away for a few days and I wanted to be able to access the website on my iphone while away from my desktop. But no, I cannot get the website on my phone using my regular password or even using another password that is generated by the website. How ridiculous is that?? I understand there is priority to get the inventory and financial and membership on the same site / program but now a month later we still have many issues with the members forum. I hope the rest of the site implementation is progressing better.
For my two cents, I expected there would be a developer representative monitoring the board to address questions early on but I guess that was pie-in-the-sky hope. I am not mad at anyone but I am da_mn frustrated that simple things on this board become huge obstacles for the users. We can do better.

Well, back to cleaning the couch.

I'm worried that Mary might be getting buried trying to put out all the fires from this new website, with members phoning her to get help logging in, on top of her regular responsibilities, no doubt she has a lot of adjusting to do for her office systems to move over too.

I spoke to another ACMOC financial member yesterday "Lyoncat", he's quit using this new board after so many problems trying to use it, he said he now regrets paying his ACMOC membership a few months ago, I don't like hearing that, that's 2 for 2 right now, Aussie financial members who have given up on this new board

I agree with what you are saying D4Jim, I am surprised we are not seeing any support or communication on here from the web developers, it has been a wall of silence for the most part, thank goodness great guys like our members John Gaunt and Neil Paku, have stepped up to help work through these issues, both guys with actual IT experience and expertise at the big end of town, because as regular users of the old board, and owners of antique Cats themselves, they know exactly what we were used to, and what we need going forward.

I was given some very good sales advice years ago, "Never take criticism from a client personally, they are complaining because they want to keep doing business with you, you screwed up, and they are telling you they want you to fix the problem so they can keep doing business with you, and they want you to do your best not to screw up again, it's the customer who doesn't complain you need to watch out for, because they have already decided not to waste any more time trying to do business with you, and have started talking to your opposition about buying there"

If we had a rough timeline given to us, of how long the repair steps will take roughly, I think that would help a lot to give us confidence things will improve, like how many days/weeks/months for
(1) sorting out the logging in issue?
(2) sorting out the private message system?
(3) reinstating the members list?
(4) reinstating all the old threads?
(5) identify actual financial members, and non financial members?

There was a technical need to quit the old board, I understand that message, I just assumed the templates used to create these boards in 2020 were just so much better than the one we are working with here, or are these boards obsolete now, and no company is creating good templates anymore, because everyone is on facebook, or twitter, or tik tok?
Regards
Mike

Hi, Gauntjoh.
I am not having any problems posting on the new board - so far - but I did have some trouble logging in a few times.

Right now, I have a small, black panel in the top right corner of the screen with the message: "Total: $201.00". It seems to be a leftover from when I renewed my membership a few days ago and appears to want me to renew it again when I already have an e-mail in my inbox saying that my membership has been renewed. The panel is 'live' and clicking on it brings up a larger window which wants me to go to the checkout to pay an international membership for which I already have a receipt from PayPal.

There does not seem to be any way to get rid of it.

Any thoughts?

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hi Deas,
I don’t have any thoughts I’m afraid as I”m not into the detail of the new website.
I will ask the website team to log it as a problem.
What sort of device are you using? (Laptop, tablet, phone, make?)
Best regards John

Hi Team,
something I notice each time I go thru the rigmarole of logging in is that I get two options of user name come up---one is edb---other is my email address.
Seems odd to me --so far I have had success after changing my password and reinstating a longer new one with a capital letter and numeral included and ONLY using the edb option--I always tick the remember me box as part of a tedious login.
Logging out requires at least 3 clicks with different screens coming up to get away from the site in totality.
I am only using my new solid state Acer Swift3 laptop with Win10 and Firefox to date--sounds like I will not try logging on thru my old Samsung Galaxy Android phone until things get sorted further.
Yep, I know it is an old cheap phone that is ample for my needs on a Veterans Pension so am not worried about using it on here.

Hope you can follow this disjointed run down.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
