I suspect we've manged to piss him off and he has cornered someone as "Friend" or as direct "PM" to work with. Not with me though.

I possibly can take a good share of the blame if George was Zipped Off with comments posted, I could have been a good bit more understanding in the detail I posted if I had known that George had little to low engineering skills with earth moving equipment, to go head on with a D9 takes some Vim in my book so credit to him on this point, with so many poster's knowing they would have it running within a short time can lead to a Log Jamb of posts mind blocking the struggling Hero on the front line, anyhow I can only offer to hang my head in shame if George has taken the Hump on this interesting thread. tctractors

Hardly, not pissed at anyone... I set the injection pump at tc 1&6 with the flywheel and valve verification.

Replaced with new starter, recharged batteries and bled the lines through the the property vent and cracked upper gas lines and bled. Checked to make sure that the decompression lever was in the run position.

She still does not seem to want to start. Less white or black smoke then before. Makes me think I still need to bleed the system more or do the pressure to the fuel tank through air.

So I got more information from the original owner that prior to me purchasing he did not cover the stack so the engine got flooded with water. He drained it out and I did not see it when I changed the oil. I only got 6 gallons out of it the rest was drained with water. I put in 10/40 delco I soaked through the glow pugs awhile back to help the rings reset or free up... I put Resilone when the valve covers where off on the top head to help clean her up as well... Any suggestions. Since the water went through the turbo through the exhaust side any clues? Lastly, anything left in the governor to prevent her from starting. Remember the rack was frozen in its bindings and I gently unstuck it... one last note yes a d9 is a heavy beast and this is not my first rodeo... I worked on nuclear weapons in the Air Force and have fixed all cars Mercedes and bmw. I am most certainly new to heavy equipment but it does not scare me in the least. Just heavy ad shit. Starter and Injection pump was just heavy not complicated in the least bit... well there is my Sunday update... All the best... Thank you for all your help guys...

Glad to see your still with us. If it's stuck rings a leak down test will verify. Unfortunately there isn't an easy cure for that.

Time for a visit from the ether bunny!

I'm thinking you have nothing to loose after knowing it got water down it! At least if you get it running you might get lucky and get some hours of work out of it before it deteriorates to the point of being useless. Turbo could be stuck, but should be simple to get it loose.

Went through that with our D7e we bought cheap. But we thought we were only limping along running the tracks to destruction. What we didn't realize was it had been lightly "ring stuck" at some point before we got it, so the excessive blow by that developed a strong puffing quality over a couple hundred hours was a surprise.

Ended up doing an inframe overhaul as well as replacing the tracks! Several rings were broken and a couple pistons had lots of damage which caused the huffing. When we pulled the heads, you could see the rust marks in the sleeves where it had been stuck even after all those hours.

Or you could stop and pull it apart now and maybe get by with a set of rings and a "valve grind" gasket set, hone the sleeves and start over fresh.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

still don't see where George put a nozzle on the end of a line to see an actual spray pattern. Did I miss a post?
