i got the wires today and cut them to fit and put the ends on them and all the do-dadas, and then i decided to compare the actual wire and i beleive the old ones were either 6 or 6.5mm because the newones were bigger including the silicone... but it still all fit...

ps just as a good long lasting paint, not a show quality paint what would you recomend? i will be using it on my case tractor not the cat because my g-pa is cheep... lol:lol:

Replied by lil cat mec on topic i got the carb kit...
i got the kit today... and im starting to put it togeather and notice the idle jet (the long skinny peice) was broken and i was thinking well i can ask you guys... and then i notice the new float needle and seat was about 3/8th of an inch longer...HMMMMM so i called the Carb shop in eldon, mo and he said that that kit was directly from Zenith... so hes guess was that someone riged the float... so does anyone have a pic of the float? were it would meet the seat... and know were i could get the idle jet???

John Deere used the same carb on the 720 and 730 Series Diesel Tractor, the p/n I show is AR 1309 R, Jet, Idle (sub for AZNR5R). Go to your local JD dealer and find the oldest parts guy at the counter for help  Seems like the price a year or so ago was around $19 or $23. .can't remember for sure.

One more suggestion for carb cleaning. Soak the carb body in mineral spitits overnight, then use a cheep ultrasonic cleaner (Harbor Freight will do) with mineral spirits in it and run it outside for 10 minutes. You will find a layer of crud in the bottom of the container you soaked the carb in and more in the ultrasonic cleaner.

This was suggested by a mechanic working on 50 outboard engines/month all with the same problem, carbs fouled by bad gas. It worked well for me.

You can score some points with your mom by letting her clean jewelery in your ultrasonic cleaner using a different solvent.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this a carb from a model 22 ? I may have missed something along the way, I do not believe it has the same internals as the John Deere tractors. The carb form the D2/D4 starting engines are the same as the John Deere 720/730 starting engines.

From the photo but a Ford Model A had a similiar type of jet in its Zenith. Google "Sacramento Ford" as they specailize in vintage cars and maybe can help you.

LCM,
I'm heading down to the big antique tractor & engine show in Portland, In. on Wednesday. Get me the numbers off your Carburetor and I'll see if I can find a jet for you. Lot's of carburetor guys there usually.:thumb:
