After I posted this morning, was there any point in this whole not running issue where fuel was pouring out of the carb because of a defective needle? If not, then I don't know if I would risk changing the needle and seat (unless the new needle is viton tipped) and ruining a pair of floats on a system that worked before. I see Rich and I are in agreement to heat the brass extension.

From the photo but a Ford Model A had a similiar type of jet in its Zenith. Google "Sacramento Ford" as they specailize in vintage cars and maybe can help you.
I believe I mentioned before???

I was thinking and looking at the original photo of the rotted off needle. I was tempted to tell you to drlli out the base enough to flip the tube over and silver solder it in. Looking at the rot on the tube I figured it wouldn't be a good idea. What are the thread size differences between the 2 parts?
Are the rest of the dimensions the same?

Hey LCM,
It's hard to tell from the picture, but could you remove the tube from the new jet and solder it into the body of the old one? Is the thread size standard or is it some "funky oddball" thread? Is there enough difference in the thread size to make an adapter (take a screw that will fit into the carb, drill & tap it to fit the new jet and cut it off to length)?
There are many ways to make things work on these old machines. As a Machinist I have made or modified lot's of carburetor parts (where I work when somebody comes in off the street with a carburetor repair the boss always gives me the job to work on). If worse comes to worse you could send me your two jets and I'll see what I can do to make it work & send them back.
